Global warming is a very controversial topic around the world. Although it is deemed by some as a hoax or is just not real at all, it is real, and it is the single most dangerous and important issue that should be on the minds of world leaders. Global warming has several factors that contribute to its cause, but the main cause of it is the burning of fossil fuels releasing large quantities of Carbon Dioxide into our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide helps trap in heat and in turn make the planet warmer (Epa.gov, 2016). CO2 is having considerable effects on the environment all over the world. Figure 1: Daintree Rainforest. For us though, in Australia we are lucky to have a beautiful environment that does …show more content…
When the sun’s energy reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, some of it is reflected back into space while the rest is absorbed by the greenhouse gases and radiated over the Earth (Environment.gov.au, 2016). The absorbed energy warms the Earth’s surface around 33°C warmer than how it would be otherwise, allowing life to flourish on the planet. Human activities are altering the carbon cycle in destructive ways. There is more and more CO2 pouring into the atmosphere which is altering the ability of natural absorbers of CO2 like trees to be able to use this carbon and create oxygen with it (Epa.gov, 2016). There is an overabundance of carbon dioxide in the world with not enough trees to combat it.
Carbon Dioxide is a major impact on the conservation of life on Earth. The carbon cycle helps to maintain the equilibrium of life on earth, and describes the movement of carbon dioxide through the world into different reservoirs such as the atmosphere, the oceans, vegetation, rocks, and soil (Visionlearning, 2016). The biological carbon cycle consists of the two main attributed to how plants live, Photosynthesis and …show more content…
Stomata are small adjustable pores of the surface of plant tissue or leaves. The pores open and close to facilitate the intake of carbon dioxide, oxygen and water. Stomata opens during the day to enable photosynthesis to take place. Stomata includes two guard cells that are positioned either side of the pore. These guards swell pushing each other apart to open the pore in the middle (Els.net, 2016). Stomata will play an important role in the lively hood of plants against global warming in the
