There is also large scale park in the center of his plan and will be the originating point of the radial boulevards. This park supposed to be the focus of the development. The buildings are arranged in different heights in clusters from the edge with medium heights till the centre with the high rise buildings to give the image of the city by defining the main routes and axes. There is also, light rail loops that link the radial boulevards to connect all the district areas and serve the commercial part. In Rogers’s scheme, he proposed to divide the whole district into 6 sub centers areas which located around the central park and have the highest density, going to the edge, are the other sub centers with less density that have the water frontage as it was shown in the Shanghai Master plan …show more content…
Hailian clarified that their proposal made a new system out of the buildings arrangement and city fabric however their design seems it visualized the less attractive city form. This plan is different from what Rogers did according to the central park, since instead, there is a large avenue cut through the site on high elevated ground which called the Century avenue. This avenue connects the district with west Shanghai by a tunnel. Also, there were divisions from four to six plots in each “super block” development with good accessibility to the routes network. The traffic could be reduced due to this super block development with efficiency and infrastructure investment. On the other side, this plan which was introduced by the SUPDI has the less public spaces considerations due to this super block development with such building enclosure that make it difficult for people to socially interact as shown in ( figure 5.12, 5.13) . They try to tackle this problem by the insertion of the central public park that always is the focal point in all the foreign proposals, and related to the circulation movement, we can see that it was affected by many bridges and elevated paths which make many concerns and challenges in the reality (Hailian,
