High school is without a doubt a very stressful and difficult period in a child’s life. It helps shape young minds and changes people forever. The environment, the teachers and classmates – they all play their own part in our rise towards adulthood. For a very long time I was ashamed of sharing the fact that I had to take a year off and completely concentrate on myself, my health and my way of living. Only I know how heartbreaking everything was at that time seeing as the fiery arguments between my parents almost tore our family apart. In my case, History and Art are the two subjects I have an affinity for. I was discouraged by a handful of people when I shared my interest in becoming a historian. They claimed I shouldn’t waste my time in a meaningless field. But I don’t see it that way. I want to study history because I am in love with humanity.
