After completing the first season, I was able to look up some of the history relating to the actual Queen Mary. The creators of the show did a good job sticking to the actual history but of course they had to add in their own touches to make the show more intriguing and appealing to viewers. The designers did a wonderful job with their creation of the costumes for the characters. The costumes were beautiful and clearly based on the historical setting, but included more modern elements. For example, Kenna, one of Mary’s ladies, is often dressed like someone who is into the bohemian style could dress like today. I also really enjoyed the selections of music throughout the first season. The addition of the modern music, including some pop songs, helped set the mood of the scene. Critics seem to argue that the music was a distraction and sometimes prevented viewers from being able to hear the characters. I didn’t find this issue as they quieted the music anytime a character began to speak. Without the music, I think critics would realize how much it actually adds and realize that without it something would be
