Remedial Physical Fitness Trainer was one of my responsibility, while serving in the army. Physical fitness is vital to survival in combat. Failing the physical fitness test, 3 times or being overweight means that the soldier will discharged. Sixty push-ups, 60 sit –up and a two mile run under twenty minutes are minimum requirements. A waiver can be granted for medical reason. A waiver grants extra time needed for recovery from sickness and injuries. Physical Fitness is imperative to success on the battle field.
Normally physical fitness training is done in the morning and done as a unit. Unit physical fitness training consists of stretching, calisthenics and a run. So every other day we took a two mile run. By doing no more and no less than two miles trainees became accustomed to running two miles. We also tried to keep a constant pace.
