• Students will be actively engaged in the lesson by scooping out the inside of the pumpkin. They will also be working on desgning their own pumpkin. They will be examining and observing specific characteristics of the pumpkin.

How do we make sure everyone gets a turn?
Where can we put the inside of our pumpkins?
Where shouldn’t we put the inside of our pumpkins? • Once students have cleaned out their pumpkins. They will set aside at least 5 seeds from each pumpkin.
• They will then clean up their station, as well as themselves.
• After they have cleaned up they will head back to their desks.
• As a class they will then discuss the experience.
• After we have had a quick discussion the teacher will plant the seeds from each group in different cups. It is important that the students watch this process.
• We will then discuss what things plants need to grow.
• Once students have established what plants need to grow we will plant our seeds.
• Over the next week students will tend to their pumpkin seeds, making sure they have the required components to grow. ( Water, Sun , etc) 22
