“Aviation safety is a term encompassing the theory, investigation, and categorization of flight failures, and the prevention of such failures through regulation, education, and training.” (Aviation safety, 2015)
If we search in the internet for the aviation safety hazards we will have many reasons and example for each reason, because in the aviation industry we are facing many danger and probabilities for failures, each small thing we may not consider may be a big deal and taking it seriously will increase the safety factor in the aircraft, …show more content…
Engine failure is the failure that occur when the engine cannot longer produce thrust due to some defection but not with the fuel exhaustion. (Turbine Engine failure, 2015), many reasons cause the engine failure, some of it primary causes (mechanical engine failure) and the other are secondary causes such as the unpredictable weather, pilot lack of knowledge and the amount of time that have been spent in the air, the time for this failure to occur is not predictable, it takes the pilot 4 seconds to realize that he has engine failure.
Mechanical engine failure is losing the engine’s oil pressure without increase in the temperature of it because there will be no oil in the vicinity of the oil temperature probe. (Engine failure and emergency landings, n.d.), and it is known for the most common engine failure, but it is not, fuel contamination is the most probable cause of the engine failure and that mostly happen because of some water. (Engine Failure after Takeoff, n.d.)
Other engine failures varies between Air Blockage (blockage of air supply to the air filter), Fuel Starvation (there is fuel in board but it cannot get into the engine), Fuel Exhaustion (no fuel in board) and Spark where the engine during take-off work at it hardest the mechanical engine failure is most likely to …show more content…
Since the statistics indicate that the engine failure reached its lowest in all-time,most pilots in their career will face engine failure but most of them never experienced severe engine failure that leads to flight shut-down , that made manufacturers of aircrafts make some some briefing notes to failures they may deal with, like Airbus who did a document and called it “Flight Operations Briefing Notes” and the goals for this document to identify the engine malfunctions and give recommendation in the all cases of engine malfunctions, in the same time, the average engine failure these days happen every 30 years, while in1950s it happened once a year, but the percentage of engine malfunction due to incorrect crew response stayed the same every
