What is your vacation or your calling? What does it mean to be a servant leader? Were you put here to be a servant leader? Do you have the characteristics of a servant leader? Everyone was put here on this Earth for some reason. Whether it is to be a nurse or a teacher or even a mechanic. Everyone has a calling to serve God in one way or another. Let’s find out what your calling is and what it means to be a servant leader.
So, I am going to start with the first question. What is a vocation or a call, particularly for Christians, how does it grow? The five leadership practices are Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process and Encourage the Heart. Each of those leadership practices represent characteristics a servant leader should have. Kouzes and Posner (2004) state that “Exemplary leaders stand for something, believe and something and care about something” (p.39). I am going to give my definition of the five leadership practices. To Model the Way means you should set an example, you should do what you say and say what you do. You have core values and you practice them and set the example. To Inspire a Shared Vision means you have the same mindset as the person you share you vision with. Whether it is your family or employees. To Challenge the Process means you have to be able to stand up for something. You can’t be afraid to take risk and accept when you make a mistake. Enable Others to Act means to build trust and relationships, set goals and help your employees get there. Then last is Encourage the Heart, recognize all you employee’s achievements and accomplishments. Reward them, it makes people gain confidence and feel good about their …show more content…
In other words, what is the significance on one’s giftedness and self-awareness of that giftedness on one’s sense of mission? It is very important to recognize someone’s personality. If you recognize and learn about someone’s personality, you can learn better how to talk to someone, how to reward them. Some personality types don’t like to be recognized or rewarded in front of everyone. If you learn different people’s personality type you and that person can get alone and work a lot better. You can learn their work type and how they like to take on task at work. I feel like if you’re the type of person who can do that, who can understand different personality types then it is your calling to be a servant
