Texting is certainly affecting this. Teenagers are tending to shorten words down into something shorter for some reason, maybe to take less time to type the message. Words that fit into this category are “you” shortened down into “u”. Another one is “be” shortened down into just “b”. In some cases people use numbers instead of typing out a full word. An example of this is “to”. Some people, mostly teenagers, use “2” instead of “to” or “too”. Also, instead of typing out a full word such as “hate”, some people will use an “8” to finish the word “h8”. Not only is this annoying, it is terribly incorrect. With kids using their phones in class. If someone is using their phone in class, it is really hard to pay attention to what the instructor is saying and teaching. Without paying attention in class, it is hard for a student to get the education they need to be sure that their grammar and spelling is all that it could be. Fortunately for teenagers, teachers are cracking down on phones being used in class so the students are forced to pay attention in class rather than being focused on their phones.
