Bond talks about friendships that occur over the internet and the lack of close friends that human beings once had. When Facebook was created, its sole purpose was to better the lives of college students, which was achieved through finding people that will flirt, gossip, support emotionally, and just "be there for you". There was a study from 2006 to 2009 explaining the amount of online friends and if it had increased or decreased over a three year period. For an average college student in 2006 they had 137 friends on social media, which increased drastically in 2009 to 440 friends. Was the increase of friends over those three years because of being social in a college atmosphere? Or did they just recognize them on Facebook and decided that they could be "high-tech"
