One of the differences is that a middle class community is more likely to believe that things are not beyond their control and to not conform (Kohn, 1973). They can control who is can stay in the community and whether it is a place for certain individuals. However this control is less likely to be their primarily goal. The community would respond with trying to get them out of the house, and into a lower socioeconomic community because they are more likely to accept people with schizophrenia. The community may think that since they are from a lower socioeconomic status they will be unable to handle this community. They will cause a tension among the community, and create a negative repertoire that could be changed if they moved away from it. This is how a negative response could happen and it is seen as common within communities. If the men wanted to have ‘odd’ assortments on their yard the community would tell them that they need to change their yard. They would create a rule that makes it so the men are not able to express their individuality. This is a negative
