In the speech she stated,’’I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when i cried out with my mothers grief, none but god heard me!’’(Gage,2). Truth explains how painful it was to watch her children get sold off to be slaves. This made people have a different perspective on equality because it was so heartless how colored people had their families tore apart and white people didn't experience that trama. Furthermore, Truth also said ‘’ i have ploughed and planted and gathered into barns, and no man could head me !’’ (Gage,2). Truth explains that even though she is a women, since she is a slave they don't treat her as a women instead they treat her as a pet. Once she spoke at the convention she gave other women the thought that slavery was never okay and that together they had a voice. The Civil War helped to prove the idea that all men and women are created equal (lincoln,1). The Civil War really set off the attention where people began to realize that slavery wasn't fair. Most people agreed with the fact that a new nation was beginning to be reborn into freedom and equality. Also, when Sojourner Truth explained how slavery wasn't civil to the point where she didnt everything and one would imagine that a women could do but she did it because of slavery(Gage,2/3).
