Following the collapse of the Yuan dynasty, the Ming dynasty, also known as the Great Ming, ruled China for the next 276 years, from 1368 - 1644. The capital was located is what is now known as Nanjing, and the government was an absolute monarchy. It was during this era in which the Great Wall of China was reinforced to its modern form.
