In opposition with Mark Twain’s quote, rather than the inescapable certainty of death instill the ultimate fear, change dominantly ensures an unmatched anxiety in individuals. An influential, historical figure Leon Weinstein during the WWII ghettos, displayed a disdain, not for death, but for the internal societal changes in beliefs, contrasting the claim. As the Nazis surrounded the largest ghetto in the early moments of WWII, many Jews fled, but others remained part of the rebellion, destined to lose. A prisoner in the ghetto and a soldier in the retaliation effort, Leon said, “If we were going to die, we would do it on our own terms.”…

Reality is Malleable A question seen in constant circulation in philosophical communities is one that asks whether or not humans are in control of how they perceive reality. Many people believe that the conscious decisions people make have a direct impact on how one perceives the world around them. In Robert Thurman’s Wisdom, the idea that reality is malleable to those keen enough to try and bend their perception of it is explored by observing those in the process of finding “selflessness”. These individuals are ones who collectively decided to alter how they valued and perceived themselves and those around them, in turn they dramatically changed how they saw the world around them.…

Why Child Disciplined Need to be Enforced Never in my life have I ever encountered such disciplinary action. Growing up you realize the morality behind every action you do and the possible consequences that follows. However, it seems that social media has contradict this statement as to where teenagers or even parents let their children “get away” with words and actions not suitable for their age. Saddening and upsetting as we see others be entertained at the inappropriate behavior of the child and the lack of discipline the adults seem to shortfall when putting it on their children. Probably during your everyday life you have come across a whining, out of control, disobedient child throwing misfits in the grocery line store.…

A watershed event is defined by the Oxford dictionary as an event or period marking a turning point in a course of action or state of affairs. One such watershed event that affected me professionally as well as personally was being selected to serve as an officer in the Air National Guard. After eleven years of serving as an enlisted member of both Active Duty Air Force and the Georgia Air National Guard (GANG), I applied and was selected for a commission as an officer in the GANG. At the time of my selection I was serving as a full time aircraft maintenance technician in the GANG, and I was earning a good salary while enjoying job security. Being selected as an officer meant I would have to resign from my full time job with the GANG; therefore, after my training was complete, I would be left without employment other than my new one weekend a month officer position.…
