St. Josephine Bakhita was born in a small village called Olgossa around 1869. Josephine was a slave for many years. When she was seven years old she was kidnapped by the Arab slave traders. Josephine Bakhita lived the Spiritual works of Mercy. One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy the St. Bakhita did is forgive offenses. She did this when the Arab slave traders kidnapped her and put her into slavery. Once they found out that slavery was illegal she forgave them for putting her in slavery and beating her. St. Bakhita also prayed for the living and the dead. When josephine was in slavery she prayed for all people to be treated with kindness and respect so that no one would have to be a slave and live in a dark world.
