It did have some downfalls, but what in this world doesn’t. They shouldn’t even be able to be seen as downfalls because the invention of the steam engine blazes many pathways. The invention was just seen as “evil” by the working class people who lost their jobs due to the progressive powers of the steam engine. Without which the 21st century wouldn’t be anywhere near what they are at today. People wouldn't need to fear for long though. They would have found themselves in a world of new and exciting opportunities that couldn’t wait to be explored. The birth of automotives and steamboats decreased the amount of work it took to transfer goods. But with the creations of these two wonderful transporters, it also meant jobs opened up looking for conductors and people to transfer and help load and unload the product. The invention of the steam engine also thankfully allowed mines to increase production. This lead to an increase in resource draws and gave the raw materials to build more engines. However, I do think that we should have stuck with the idea of the steam engine because maybe the world wouldn’t be where it is at today with global warming if inventors could have just built upon the idea of the eco-friendly steam engines. But instead, the world is slowly degrading through global warming and the destruction of the ozone layer. An event that would not even have crossed the mind of inventors like Watt, who never would have thought that his invention would lead to one of the biggest problems the world has ever seen. The steam engine should be seen as one of the greatest invention ever because it is what allowed everyone and everything to be as advanced as what it
