For my essay I wanted to talk about the steam engine. I want to talk about the steam engine because it made a huge impact in our technology. The steam engine helped out with a lot of our problems and was used in many different ways. The steam engine could’ve been used as an electrical source or as a transportation source. I am going to tell you why it was so big and how it left a huge impact in our technology.
The steam engine was invented in 1698 by Thomas Savery. The steam engine was used to pump water out of coal mines but would later be used for several different things. The steamboat was patented and introduced in 1729 by John Allen. Steamboats were made very big and had a lot of room for people and goods. Steamboats were used to transport things and people from one place to another and helped with transporting goods. Since steamboats were huge they could fit a lot of people and could also transport a lot of good that were secured. This would also help transport things quicker making it a lot easier to trade with non-hostile allies.
I also wanted to talk about the steam train also known as the steam locomotive. The steam locomotive is the front of the train that pushes all the carts which was powered by burning wood, coal, etc. The steam train would be made in 1801 but wouldn’t be operated till 1804. This helped out a lot because it helped with transportation and trade. It would be made to carry a lot of weight which made it easy for the train to haul goods, people, etc. It made transportation for people a lot easier and helped with transporting
