Description of the pathology, syncope. According to the article written by the American Heart Association, Syncope (Fainting), syncope begins when blood does not carry enough oxygen to meet the demands of the body. Since there is a shortage of oxygen being sent throughout the body, the brain is unable to cope, and this will result in a loss of consciousness (2015). Syncope, in other terms, is another way to describe fainting. Syncope, in many cases, occurs from a low blood pressure.

If syncope occurs, then it is best to figure out why it may have happened; this way it can be avoided in the future. Syncope can happen to anybody, at any given time, so knowing how to treat and prevent syncope is vital knowledge. Knowing to take off tight clothing, or to raise the legs up, or even splash cold water on the face can be factors that may save someone 's life. If this is not done then the blood/oxygen may not be flowing to the brain as it should for a long period of time. This could make for serious consequences or it can be life threatening. Also, syncope is dangerous because the lack of proper body function results in the person falling. If a person were to fall as they lose consciousness, then they may need immediate medical attention. There are a lot of medical cases where syncope occurred and someone got a concussion or they may have internal bleeding. It is best to know that medical attention should be sought for this situation. In some cases, there may be underlying causes as to why a person would faint. Throughout the duration of the person 's underlying disorder the syncope will continue to occur. This can mean that the person can lose consciousness during any activity they do during the day; if they do lose consciousness and do not have help then this can become life threatening. These are the reasons why having knowledge of this pathology is so crucial. If a person knows the symptoms of syncope, then they can do their best to prevent it from happening, or they may at least be able to put themselves into a better situation where they have people around them, and they are laying down with their feet up. This scenario will keep them from injuries from falling, it will get them help, and it includes a prevention
