Which option is the best? It mainly comes down to “it depends”. I.e.: In baseball if you win, that means the other team loses. Covey explains that the best option to create however, is win/win situations. When aiming for win/win we must take into consideration two factors: Courage and consideration. In order to achieve win/win we must keep our focus on results instead of methods and instead of on people, on the problems. Abundance Mentality- Unquestioning that there is plenty for everyone.
Maturity- Communicating your thoughts, feelings and ideas with bravery and thoughtfulness for the thoughts and feelings of others. It is interesting to me that thinking with the goal of win/win in mind is a balancing act between consideration and bravery, also that you need to be both empathetic, but confident! It is a frame of mind, as well as heart that constantly pursues shared benefit in human interactions. Agreements and solutions are also mutually beneficial and satisfying. Without trying- realizing even, this has seemed to be my main approach in handling conflicts in my personal life for as long as I can remember.
