A model for our spiritual journey-- that is what the Bible is intended to be. In the 263 page book titled “The Bible Tells Me So..”, The author, Peter Enns, attempts to help readers understand just what the Bible is intended to be and why he feels that way. Many Christians are under the impression that the Bible is a manual that is supposed to be filled with step-by-step instructions on how to be a “good Christian” and are extremely disappointed when the Bible falls short of these expectations. The Bible Tells me So” aims to convince Christians that the Bible is a story to help guide a spiritual journey, not a rulebook and that it is okay to question what is within scripture If you are looking for a Christian book to indulge in that will require critical thinking skills then this is a fantastic read.

He specifically states the point of his book on page 23 “My goal for this book, then, is to assure people of faith that they do not need to feel anxious, disloyal, unfaithful, dirty, scared, or outcast for engaging these questions of the Bible, interrogating it, not liking some of it, exploring what it really says, and discerning like adult readers what we can learn from it on our own journey of faith” What the author is trying to say in this statement and prove in this book is that it is acceptable to have your own opinions on the Bible. The book actually says that God wants us to ask questions concerning scripture. How can you have personal faith in something if you just accept it as it is without really figuring it out for yourself. As children most kids explore because they want to see things for themselves, why should exploring scripture be any different? It should not and Peter tells us that in this
