The most known form of birth control is referred to as ‘the pill’ and is taken daily at the same time to increase its effectiveness. The pill releases a combination of two hormones: estrogen and progestin. This pill is free at any health clinic as long as your eligible, otherwise it can be prescribed by a doctor for a reasonable price. A different form of birth control is the birth control implant, in which a small device is inserted into the arm by a health professional. This device helps the body to regulate the release of progestin, in which releases the female’s eggs at a slower rate. Contrary to the implant and pill, in which release hormones to prevent pregnancies, an intrauterine device (IUD), the birth control sponge, or the cervical femcap are inserted into the uterus to keep the sperm from meeting an egg. These three insertions are also effective to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
