The Greatest Threat to U.S. National Security The United States is known to have the most technological advanced intelligence collection capabilities compared to other countries such as China, Iran, and Russia. However, since the end of the Cold War and the global expansion of the internet, nations such as those mentioned before have amplified their intelligence capabilities. There will be no diplomatic solution to deal with Iran (Dickerson, 2012). Ever since the coup of 1979, Iran has become dexterous in the art of asymmetric warfare. The entity that is of greatest significant to their collection is the Ministry of Intelligence and Security. This organization is more than capable of operating inside its borders. It has influenced regions such as North America, South America, and Africa. Analyst have ranked the Ministry of Intelligence and Security as one of the most dynamics and largest agencies in the Middle East (Federal Research Division, 2012). This organization has focused on the internal security of Iran until Iraq invaded them in 1980. Since then, they have become a multi-layered entity enforcing revolutionary values at home and abroad (Rubin n.d.). The IRGC has an elite force at their disposal known as the Quds Force. This Special Forces group has the responsibility of exterminating revolutionists such as internal threats like the Green Movement (Pourzand, 2009-2010). Additionally, The Iranian intelligence can utilize an entity within the Ministry of Intelligence and Security known as the Basij Movement. This youth organization is responsible for eliminating a western influence into its society. They infiltrate schools. Universities, and other infrastructures in order to keep their idea from being infected with non-believers. However, due to Iran becoming a victim to the Stuxnet virus and the Flame virus, they lack the capability to defend against cyber warfare, the biggest
