He has not returned to call His saints home yet because He is patiently waiting on more sinners to become saints. God does not desire for anyone to go to Hell, but He knows there will be some who will (Luke 17:22ff). He desires repentance, therefore repent and turn to Him while we are blessed to live to see this day because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Whatever state we are in spiritually when we die is the indication of where we will spend our eternity. The author of Hebrews is saying the same thing: while we still have time, repent today. God is patient and His patience will eventually run its course. One word that will never be heard again in Hell is ‘repent.’ Perhaps those in Hell would long to hear that word just one last time; however, it would be too late.
