One of the perceived benefits of becoming physically active was that I was able to lose weight and tone my body, I went from being a size four in jeans 12 weeks ago to currently being a size zero in jean. Another benefit of attending the gym was more energy every morning, which higher levels of motivation throughout the day. This correlates with previous finding that concluded that working-out increases an individuals overall mood and motivation. Similarly, researchers found that working out could lower ones stress levels, which could also correlate with elevated mood levels. I myself noticed that by going to workout classes continually I was less stressed, and when I would mess a day or two of working out I instantly felt more stressed with life. As stated above the one of the first steps in the health belief model involves the perceive susceptibility. I became fully aware of the illnesses that I’m already predisposed of and the illnesses that are associated with inadequate amounts of physical activity. This further leads to understanding the perceived benefits of working out. Such as better health and a lower chance of developing several illnesses. When I became fully aware and understood the benefits of exercising regularly, I knew that I wanted to implement that change into my life, I knew that to live the long life I strive for I had to work now to rip the benefits in the future. Not naïve to the fact that change is hard and takes dedication and perseverance, the next stage in the health belief model deals with the perceived barriers that must addressed. I struggled with proper time management as one of my biggest barrier when implementing group-based fitness into my schedule. Which like many people is a common barrier that many people have difficulties with. I still push myself to develop proper time management stills but I learned to plan ahead and not allow my poor time managements skills to determine my workout routine anymore. Lastly, the reinforcement stage of the social cognitive model helped me to stay focus in completely my health behavior change. From the
