Nurses have to demonstrate that they are qualified to practice in a clinical area of nursing at a predetermined level by passing a certification exam. Once they become certified, it validates that their abilities, skills, and experience are beyond what is required for a Registered Nurse (RN) license (Aacn.org, 2016). Unfortunately, I was unable to locate a certification for a Women’s Health Clinic RN, however, I was able to locate four core certifications available for RNs through the National Certification Corporation (NCC), which included: Inpatient Obstetric Nursing, Maternal Newborn Nursing, Low Risk Neonatal Nursing, and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (Nccwebsite.org, 2016).
