This definition of happiness means that life is good, but does not include the specifics of what is good about life. The word happiness is also used in several ways that are more specific. According to numerous surveys and research documents, Americans say that satisfaction in life usually comes with success in life. Most people believe that success in life happens when capable people contribute to the society in which they live. Being a valuable part of whatever type of society a person lives and works in is a major requirement for most people’s happiness. This question can be rephrased, ‘What traits do adults working and living in modern American companies and typical families are valued by adults who claim happiness, their coworkers, and their family members?
To find a comparison of traits of functional and successful employees and family members to the first trait of happy people discussed in this essay, comparisons of ‘focus’ and ‘living in the moment’ must be examined. Comparable terms to these traits are described in employees and family members who are ‘action-oriented’ and ‘ambitious’. Action-oriented employees and family leaders are described as people who focus on goals and who take action and take chances. Even though their actions may fail, they will more often lead to success and mold confidence while generating new ideas all while focused on the goal of the group. Ambition is also part of a happy person’s traits that focus on the moment or current goals of the group. Striving to be successful in the moment is a good definition for an ambitious person. In order for a company to be innovative or a family to be success, ambition is the necessary trait to spawn creative ideas and generate candor amongst employees and family
