In this age of industrialization and globalization, rapid economic growth has been observed. Along with this rapid growth, there has been a significant improvement in money distribution and standard of living. If employees are happy and safe at workplace, their productivity will increase (Amirah, 2013). In this essay, the main topic of concern is that in spite of following these set of rules and regulation formulated by WH&S, safety performance or work related accidents keeps on increasing. Thus it has been discussed in this essay that apart from this legislation safety culture in an organization and safety performance are of greater value. These two aspects when used at workplace helps in improving the safety performance. Issues like assessing safety behavior of employees, safety culture in an organization, rules, believes, attitudes, good practices of the workers at work place has been discussed. Situation in industries before and after implementation of safety culture and leadership has also been discussed in detail. At the end of this essay several suggestions and recommendation to improve the attitude of workers towards workplace safety has been given. They are the set of standard rules and regulations. The main aim to implement these legislation is to eliminate the hazards at workplace (Amirah, 2013). They are called as WHS/OH&S Acts, Regulations or WH&S Codes of Practice. In spite of strict implementation of these rules and regulation around the world, several incidents have been recorded which shows that only compliance to WH&S legislation cannot alone improve the safety performance. For instance in Australia employee safety is given a great importance. A survey was conducted by government of Australia suggesting that in year 2013-2014, there were around 5,31,800 total work related injuries. As of 12th august 2015, around 97 work related fatalities have been recorded. These are the recent figures but the fatalities in year 2013 and 2014 were 186 and 184 respectively ("Worker fatalities - Safe Work Australia," 2015). These key performance indicator suggest that compliance to the WH&S legislation is not been done as per requirement and this results into fatalities.
