With the absence seizure the can have at least a dozen episodes daily. After having one at school they are not going to be aware of what has happened in the classroom. Such as turning in incomplete work due to missing instructions from the teacher. Kids will also have trouble learning in school due to social problems by not having many friends. They might misbehave more because they don’t understand why or what causes them to have seizures so they act out to get attention. Tonic-Clonic or convulsive seizures kids get teased and embarrassed. Poor self-esteem, depression or even suicide if they start having more than one a day. They might not be able to drive until the seizures are under control for at least a year. Atonic seizure affects the kids with frustrated with limitations of what they can do. They start getting bullied and teased by their classmates. If possible put the child in front of the classroom so that way you can see the student better and get to them faster if a sezure starts up. When they have one in the classroom you want to remain calm and tell the other students that their classmate will be fine. You want to move the desk out of the way so that they want hit their head on it. Move all toys and other objects that they might fall against so that they wat get hurt. Some kids wear a helmet when they are outside playing if they have one as the parents to bring it to school so that they can wear at recess.
If seizures happens at home the steps are the same as they are at school. The only difference is their bedroom you would want to make sure that the night stand or any other furniture is far enough from their bed in case they have a seizure. You might also want to buy them a bed that sets to high up so if the roll out of the bed they wouldn’t hurt themselves.
