Teenagers may be uncomfortable asking questions they have that need to be answered with those who could help educate them about sexual health. This could very well be one of the main reasons why adolescents are not knowledgeable about STD contraction, prevention, and treatment options. It could also explain why many adolescents are turning to other sources of information such as various media vehicles like TV programs and the Internet, to learn more about sexual health (Jones & Biddlecom, 2011, p. 112). There is an urgent need to find the best possible ways to reach out to targeted groups so they can be better educated about sexual health. It is also important to make known the various information outlets that are available to young adults if they have questions or concerns about sexual health (Pinkelton et al., 2008, p. 462). In addition, determining why this necessary information about sexual wellbeing may be limited and not easily accessible to adolescents or young adults is crucial. Again, it is a must to pinpoint the most common media vehicles young adults use, in order to figure out how the health campaigns should be promoted. There are many factors that influence an individual to use prevention methods when partaking in sex and their overall view of being susceptible to contracting STDs. Some include attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs about sexual health, prevention, and one’s perceived vulnerability to actually getting an STD (Noar et al., 2006, p. 366). These concepts form the views of the American culture, and in turn affect the views of young people. The content of sexual health promotions must slowly change the attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs so that college students will comply with the recommended behaviors encouraged in the health campaigns. Understanding sexual interactions will also help researchers effectively construct those messages. Also, stressing that effective communication between sexual partners is a must is another possible way of solving this growing problem (Noar et al., 2006, p.
