Another personal example I can give is the writing of this thesis. The stress created by the submission deadline of this thesis caused me to go into overdrive and get it finished by the appropriate time. If I wasn’t under stress or if I wasn’t concerned with submitting my dissertation, then I would have delayed writing ittothe pont of not even completing it or submitting it for that matter. Stressors that may affect college students can be broadly classified in to academic, financial, time or health related, and self-imposed [4]. These stressors do not cause anxiety or tensions by themselves. Instead, stress results from the interaction between these stressors and one’s own perception and reaction to these factors [5]. If Stress is not dealt with properly and in time, feelings of loneliness and nervousness, as well as sleeplessness and excessive worrying may result [6]. Stress can have multiple symptoms. These symptoms can affect the person experiencing stress directly or can cause an effect on his/her relationships with others. These symptoms can can be simply categorized into physical, emotional and cognitive. Physical symptoms include muscular tensions, colds, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances, ulcers, indigestion, fatigue, headaches etc. emotional symptoms can manifest themselves as depression, fear, anxiety, mood swings, and rash behavior. Cognitive symptoms may include forgetfulness, lack of concentratin and unwanted thoughts.
