You are unable to tell anyone that something was wrong, and that is hard. Friends and family look at you as if you can function for the rest of the day; in reality, that is not the truth and it can be extremely hard to complete the day. The common saying is that life goes on, and it does. In my personal experiences, I occasionally need to take a day off and do what’s best for me and my health. My personal health is 110% more important than anything going on at school. In an article “Teens are Feeling More Anxious Than Ever”, anxiety is the most common mental illness with 25% of all teens suffering and out of that 25%, about 30% of teen girls suffer. This statistic shows that females are more prone to developing a mental illness and more specifically, anxiety. Therapy is one of them. Talking to a professional can help you realize when an anxiety attack may be coming or how to destress yourself. For me, therapy has helped because I’m able to tell my therapist whatever I want and she gives me advice on problems I might be having. Talk therapy can be used as a stress reliever. It’s spending an hour talking with a professional about everything: sports, school, homework, friends, family, etc. He or she also gives you advice and even ideas of how to stop anxiety from entering and controlling your life. Taking a daily medication is another solution for some kids. It all depends on how their brain works because most people have more than one form of a mental illness. My dad used to take Adderall many years ago for his anxiety, and it didn’t help over time. He also mentioned that it can become addictive, and being addicted to drugs isn’t good for anyone, ever.
