Parents need to remain calm in the car and have patience. Without practice a teenager will never develop complex skills. Parents should begin by explain driving techniques which will ensure safe driving. Such as, using turn signals, always wear a seatbelt, not speeding to beat a light, and stopping completely at a stop sign. All these little details are just habits. Once you emphasize this enough times it will sink into the teenage driver. It is also important that tees understand the rules of the road. To help them clarify rules and exceptions it is best to go over them. This will not only help teenagers abide by the established laws but also encourage better driving practices.
Adults really need to emphasize no cell phones while driving. One of the worst habits a beginner driver can have is talking on the cell phone while driving. Teens should keep the phone near them in the car for emergency situations only. It’s better to put the phone away, turn it off or tell a passenger in the car to control your phone. If a phone must be used, the teen should pull safely over to a side road to utilize the cellular. The less distractions there are in the car, the more focused and alert a driver
