NASA is one of the biggest Space programs in the world, and lead most space missions and discoveries.
Recently they have intensified their research about water on Mars, as they are looking to find the presence of life on a new planet.
Many discoveries have been made allowing them to strongly believe that Mars contains water and might still contain it.
They still need to do a lot of research to confirm their interpretations and research as some of their arguments can be explained by other reasons then water.

How did these robots allow them to prove the presence of water on Mars ?
Research for water on Mars started when polar caps and clouds were located by telescope on Mars.
We will study the possible presence of water on Mars through the geological aspect, through information that was received from the robots on Mars.
The presence of actual liquid water was never confirmed nor found on Mars.
NASA was able to detect the presence of water in different minerals and rocks.
On Mars there is an important amount of clay minerals and sulphates, which are highly concentrated in water.
The robots sent on Mars found different rocks; the main one we will study is Basalt.
Basalt is an igneous rock that is consisted of silicate minerals, olivine, pyroxene and plagioclase feldspar (all minerals studied in class). These minerals have the property that when they are exposed to water they will endure chemical weathering transformation, transforming them into secondary minerals. Once they endure these changes they tend to incorporate water into there
