The Legend of Qin: Animation and Conveying Culture
Introduction
“The Legend of Qin” is the first Chinese 3D swordsman theme animation produced by Sparkly Key Animation Studio. It was released through television and internet platform since 2007. Thus far, this animation has become a series of productions. For a Chinese animation, the scale of it has create a unique record. The broad and profound Chinese traditional culture shown in animation is an important factor for the popularity of this series (Lan, 2014). The success of “The Legend of Qin” cause a wave that culture and art communicate in animation. In Chinese market, “The Legend of Qin” firstly achieved that the success of both market and culture communication. This fact stated that digital media production could be a novel medium for culture communication (Gong, 2014).

As result of multimedia era, digital media production has its particular advantages and features. Compared with traditional culture medium such as book, painting, music and sculpture, animation will provide people for “multiple senses performances”, especially the combination of visual and hearing. Thus, as a novel culture medium, these questions will be researched:
1. Compared with older animation, where could reflect the progress of technics and theory in “The Legend of Qin”
2. In “The Legend of Qin”, how does the multiple senses performances affect audience
3. How effective do the multiple senses performances work
4. What influences caused by these progress and multiple senses performances are helpful for conveying culture?
