During the Crusades there was an estimated 2 million deaths that occurred from the fighting and the violence. The Crusades lasted from 1096 a.d. to 1272 a.d which is 176 years. The map that shows the trade routes that resulted from the Crusades doesn 't show or talk about what had to happen to get those routes. The Crusades were very violent and if the Crusaders didn 't get what they wanted they would take it by force often killing to get it. There was even a children 's Crusade, in 1212 tens-of thousands of unarmed children set out to regain control of the Holy Land. But none of the children even made it to the holy land they were sold into slavery or just never returned home after the journey. Which is sad because that is a lot of kids to just disappear from their parents to never be seen again. So when you see a map of the trade routes just think of all the people who had to die to get those
