There once was a little boy named Robbie, who had the proclivity to tinker. In school, his teachers were all impressed with how quickly he picked up on complex concepts. He would finish reading all his text books before the class even reached midterms each year. He would open up every machine in the house while his parents were away. sitting on his bed for hours, prying open their television remotes, watches, and flashlights. The tools he used to tinker, cluttered his bookshelves, where his toys should have been. Once he became satisfied with his understanding of electronics, he began searching the house for chemicals. He wanted to do experiments with them. After a few short years of reading and experimenting, Robbie understood almost every …show more content…
The laboratory door creaks open, with just enough time for the man to heave himself up off the floor. The face of his favorite student materializes before him. "Professor Rob!," she exclaims at the sight of his tattered and burnt lab coat. Rob remains silent. He walks toward his machine with a somber expression, and stares at the hunk of melted metal sitting in the bottom. "I learned something last night." He told the girl.

The girl placed her textbooks on a nearby desk and approached the machine, she peered into it. "It looks like it exploded?" she remarked. Professor Rob nodded. "Well what happened? did anything come through?" she questioned eagerly.

The door creaked open once again, and a taller man in an brown suit enters the room. An expression of pure joy reaches his face when his eyes land on the destroyed piece of equipment. "This is what happens when you accept fake science as truth!" He waved a finger at Professor Rob 's work. "They 'll have you fired this time." He threatened before turning to exit. He audibly mumbled, "Disgrace to the institution." on his way

"I know the secrets of the universe," he said in a tone just above a whisper. He let his words sink in. His eyes were glowing with triumph, but also fear, and excitement. He grabbed a thick metal pole off of the work bench and pointed it at the machine before turning back to face Milly. "I know the secret to life!" He screamed, and then dissolved into a fit of manic laughter. Millys eyes widened in horror, this was not the level headed Professor Rob that she had come to know. Professor Rob swung the metal pole at the machine, a loud cling rung through the building. The pole made a small dent in the metal that covers the walls of it. "Go ahead," He hollered. He swung the bar again, and again. "I know you want to ask me," He swung his head around to indicate that he was talking to Milly, who stood frozen in horror. "Join me, in existential awareness... just ask me." His voice was a forced and uneven now. Milly backed away from him slowly, her eyes peeled open in shock. The professor dropped his pole, he stood eerily still, gazing at Milly. She could see the desperation in his eyes, and she watched his face lose its structure. The left part of his face began to droop, and he lost control of his limbs forcing him to take a knee. He slowly collapsed, his body and mind seemed to be shutting down. Broken fragments of speech stuttered out of his mouth

As Milo, Tock, and the Humbug continued on their journey, they stopped at a little box sitting on the side of the road. Half of the box was smooth, shiny, and painted a light pink, while the other half was chipped, decaying, and was a dull white. There was a small window in front, and connected to it by a string was a white sign with sloppily written words. “Well, this is... peculiar,” said Milo, getting out of the car and staring at the tiny box that was half his height. Tock got out next and began circling the box, carefully inspecting it.…

The crack broke her train of thought, directing her attention to the noise like the first firework on the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as great of a sight as the colorful explosions that everyone oohed and awed over. What her eyes found bit into the chaotic thoughts streaming through her mind. She wished she could say that the snapped collarbone was a new sight, but after passing thousands of rotting corpses, it was just another day on the streets. A small shrug at the muttered apology shifted the blame off of Leo's shoulders and onto those of the dead.…

I let him do the chattering, and when it becomes evident that he has nothing serious to say, I lean back and cross my arms, just to let him know that he’s wasting my time. I do not smile, neither do I nod encouragement. Nor, of course, do I respond to his blandishments with apologetic shrugs and blushes. Then, at the first flicker of lechery, I stand up and announce coolly, “All right, I’ve had enough of this crap.”…

After making it abundantly clear who was in control of the sessions, McHugh relaxed back in his seat, and awaited the young woman's reaction to his curtness. Or, he appeared to relax, for truth be told, from the moment she'd stepped into his office, with her youthful model looks, and the school uniform, for one of the few times in his career, the Psychiatrist felt that he may be out of his depth. Not a sex-therapist or a trained rape counsellor, he was accustomed to treating adults, mostly the rich, with diagnosed medical disorders and first-world problems, and occasionally single mothers, or drug dependents, who'd found themselves on the wrong side of the law, who simply needed to attend his office for a certain number of sessions to avoid…
