Matthew Lynch, in his article “The Disadvantages of Year-Round Schools”, effectively describes the disadvantages of year-round education, making his rhetoric particularly powerful with the examples he gives. He describes in detail the “detriment to family structure” that year-round school systems have which directly and adversely affects the child because spending time with people and family members is critical in development (Lynch). This along with the possibility of children within the household attending two schools with different schedules and the statement saying that year-round education may not allow for academic strides is a particularly well-suited example for the disadvantages of year-round schooling (Lynch).
