However, research on responding to the question of the extent of police education relate to use of force in law enforcement in urban cities, challenged the above literature review. Analysis of the data collected from the research conducted suggested that better educated police officers tend to use less force; however the relationship between the two variables based on statistical tests was not significant (Griffin, 2001). The research also asserted that police officers with high education level relied on problem- solving skills and communication instead of use of force in tempting law enforcement scenarios. It suggests that male police officers were likely to use more force than female police officers. The research also asserted that due to lack of relationship between gender and age and use of force was the basis was hiring of police and deployment programs in the police departments. The age of police officers together with the seniority factor was at the core of police retirement and exposure to criminal suspects that could demand use of force. It was found that seniority factor was influential in limiting old police officers from some duties such as deployment to situations that demand use of force.
