Structural functionalism would view this problem as something that the society needs for it to exist. Obese people usually make people think about one thing, health. Maybe if people within the society realize it could help them bring changes for health and warn the dangers of an unhealthy lifestyle. A conflict theorist would view this problem as a problem made by those in power. Those in power could be the ones setting the lower class to be unhealthy because they want the power in fixing the issue. With regulations set on food, those regulations are made by government agencies. Also healthier food is more expensive to attain unlike cheap unhealthy food like fast food chains. So now this leads to people who are in power make more rules and regulate more on the poor. A symbolic interactionism approach would be how obese people fit in with society.
