What woman doesn’t want to be direct and blunt? How about hard-headed? We’re all bitches when it’s in that context because we’re bound to have at least one of these attributes. There isn’t anything wrong with being strong willed and being the type of woman who doesn’t get pushed around. The topic that Triska is trying to convey is that women are “bitches” when it’s being used in this context. Since the book was produced, Feminists have been trying to get a more positive definition attached to the word rather than the negative ones (Triska).
Meredith Brooks’ song “Bitch” has the refrain “I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint, I do not feel ashamed,” (Brooks). The bluntness of the refrain really conveys how bitches are blunt. I think the usage of the word bitch shows Brooks’ boisterous attributes that really contribute to the song’s meaning. When these are but into context, the word bitch doesn’t really seem too bad. I mean granted, unless someone is aware of this context, they would take it offensively
