129,864,880 is the number of books in the world as of August 2010. Just imagine all of them being burned because society bans all of the knowledge inside of them. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, all books are illegal to possess and if books are in custody, they are burned until there is nothing left. Guy Montag thought nothing was wrong with this act, until he met some influential people and everything he ever knew was controversial. In this book, there are many messages for the audience to interpret, but three main points are to obtain valued information, set a side time to relax and digest it, and lastly, carry out actions.

Montag found the fellow scholars and started talking about the way to amend society. “We’ll pass the books on to our children, by word of mouth, and let our children wait, in turn on the other people” (Bradbury 146). By spreading the knowledge obtained from books, the professors could offer up the old society ways. The scholars made a difference by separating themselves from the crumbling culture. Present day people always talk about making changes, but never follow through. If those people were truly passionate about the area they are trying to fix, the beginning of the change process would be simple. To the scholars, they will start small by transferring the books into the children’s minds and eventually the children will continue to pass on the wisdom, “All we want to do is keep the knowledge we think we will need, intact and safe” (Bradbury 145). Simplicity is the key to success in this quote. By having the knowledge they need, it will not be hard to carry out the actions to allow change to occur. But some may argue that if actions were to be taken, it could offend people or certain beliefs, backgrounds and traditions. Today’s world is so concerned about people’s feelings. Taking a stand for something a certain person believes in is hard due to all the different aspects. In order for something to change, someone needs to influence advancements. Some of the messages in Fahrenheit 451 include the value of the information given, time to digest and relax, and the right to create actions based on the previous learning.
