“Wall Street 's consensus earnings estimate for Verizon for the second quarter has fallen by 4% over the past two months. “Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam conceded at an investor conference that it will be hard for Verizon to sign up as many new customers -- particularly for its FiOS Internet and TV services -- as it did in the first quarter before workers went on the picket lines (La Monica)”. By going on strike and causing Verizon economic problems it put pressure on the company to come to some sort of agreement with the people on strike. Yes, workers went on strike and the union stepped in. Yes, Verizon had stock go down and had to hire people to temporarily fill in while the strike was going on and lawyers got involved. At the end of the day they both parties came to an agreement and a proposal was made and at the moment both parties are happy.
