Say goodbye to the 70 degree weather that has brought smiles to the faces of its residents. In Cleveland, Ohio, record highs in this month of November were due to unseasonable temperatures. Could this be caused by global warming?
Meteorologists forecast low pressure of colder air from the North is forcing the current high pressure of warm air out, dropping temperatures into the high 40’s which is normal this time of the year in Cleveland, Ohio. Winter storm watches and winter storm warnings are a part of Cleveland’s seasonal change. We have a saying in Cleveland, “if you do not like the weather now, just wait five minutes it is subject to change”. Spring, summer, fall and winter in Cleveland, Ohio provide meteorologists …show more content…
Our textbook authored by Tarbuck & Lutgens (2012) states “Although climate has a significant impact on people, we are learning that people also have a strong influence on climate. In fact, today global climate change caused by humans is making headlines. Unlike changes in the geologic past, which represented natural variations, modern climate change is dominated by human influences that are sufficiently large that they exceed the bounds of natural variability. Moreover, these changes are likely to continue for many centuries. The effects of this venture into the unknown with climate could be very disruptive not only to humans but to many other life-forms as well” (Tarbuck & Lutgens, 2012, p. …show more content…
Al Gore’s movie is said to be a misrepresentation of what is really happening and that his movie actually was showing the things that occur naturally. While Al Gore’s movie paints a picture of doom and gloom, there are benefits from global warming.
A benefit of global warming in the North is longer growing seasons. Another benefit is that human lives will be saved as a result of global warming because more people die as a result of being exposed to colder temperatures versus hotter temperatures. Certain areas of the world become more habitable as a result of global warming and some areas will be less habitable. Things are going to change but not all of it is negative as projected by Al Gore’s movie.
We need to have a balanced view of global warming and not just a reactionary view and rushing to judgment. To make rash changes without proven data would certainly be more harmful and devastating to life. So, after hearing man’s view, it would be wise to seek godly counsel. In Genesis 1:28, God gave man the dominion over His creatures. He is therefore authorized by God to rule over all God’s creatures. It is written in Psalm 8:6 (KJV) “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his
