Shortly after Simon goes out to try to find out what the beast really is, he stumbles upon the Lord of the Flies and gets sick. Lord of the flies is a pig’s head on a stick that jack killed for food . As he is stumbling down the mountain, he runs up on Jack's camp and they beat him to death thinking he is the beast. After realizing he's not the beast they push him out into the ocean as a instead of burying him. As he’s floating away glowing fish surround him. In the novel Golding tries to prove that we need different roles in our society for any progress to happen, but we have to use power in a good way not like the kids in Lord of the Flies. We need to let certain people have power over us and under us, and the rules of civilization can be very unclear and hard to get everyone to follow. Golding shows us this in the book by giving the boys power, power does not affect one person but many people. All in all, this book was good, not the best I have read, but one I am glad that I did. Over all I would rate this book at an eight and I would recommend this book to other
