Ralph is used to prove that without the limits of society, people get driven by their human nature and act violently. Throughout the story, Ralph demonstrates that he is focused on being rescued. Though that is indeed true, Ralph began to show his inner darkness. Further than that, it shows that each person carries darkness within themselves. Though the characters were immature and impulsive, it is no excuse for their actions. Even at a young age a person can act in a violent and savage manner . William Golding used Ralph, Jack, and Roger to demonstrate that without civilization humans get carried away by their human nature due to the fact that everyone carries darkness in themselves. Though Ralph was the only one that realized the extent of their actions out of the three, he was still violent and savage. This comes to show that anyone has the capability of being violent,cruel and savage. There are many cruel individuals and its usually their natural state of being which means there is nothing that can change
