A tweet by model Christine Teigen expresses a political opinion that was openly criticized on Fox News by reporter Andrea Tantaros saying, “She should stay on Instagram… Chrissy Teigen is known for, obviously, her lovely bottom, and her food Instagram pictures. She should stick to that… This is the problem when models start to talk. They play into that dumb model stereotype. Suggesting that a female model’s opinion is irrelevant simply because she’s a model is a fairly uneducated statement. Andrea Tantaros completely disregards the possibility of Christine having been educated in politics or gun rights, and automatically attacks her for her job and Instagram posts. Instead of taking her opinion into consideration, she immediately assumes that she can know nothing since she is a female model. Which, since Tantaros is a pretty face for a widely known news broadcaster, and also happens to be female, she is speaking about herself in the same breath. Biologically, yes, men and women are different. But they do not have to be socially different. Historically and religiously, men and women have been forced into molds that make them believe they are different, but religion and history do not have to control our societal roles in 2014. Socially, men and women can be the same, but because of people who cannot let go of these roles, people are forced into submission of roles that should have been long past dead.
