If you were offered to go to a school that requires you to wear a school uniform, would you let your kids go to that school? If you say no, you're not the only one. The topic of school uniforms have been debated for quite some time on whether school uniforms should be required for every school. People say that uniforms don’t cost that much and prevents bullying while others say that they cost too much and may be uncomfortable.There are many different views on school uniforms but what I think is that schools should not require the use of uniforms because they are costly, not comfortable and they limit self-expression.

They lose their confidence when they lose their right to freely express themselves through personal fashion. Research shows that students who are forced to wear school uniforms are more likely to use makeup earlier than their peers, and later, to use more extreme accessories to alter their fashion.This also falls into the category of our freedom of choice (The Charter of Rights and Freedoms). Under Section 2 - Fundamental Freedoms, it states that we have the freedom of conscience and religion. Clearly, students being forced to wear uniforms violates that right listed in the charter and therefore uniforms shouldn’t be mandatory.
In conclusion, the debate still continues and people have different views on this issue. Personally what I think is that schools should not have school uniforms because the uniform cost too much, students are uncomfortable wearing them and as a result, cannot express their individuality. Later on, I hope schools will allow all students to choose whatever they want to wear to school so that they can express their
