They are often seen as the ones who stay at home taking care of the children while the men are off fighting. This stereotype has afflicted women for most of human history and may continue to if we do not change some of the military’s policies. For example, If women want equality they should be required to sign up for the mandatory citizen draft once they turn eighteen. This would lay the way for women entering the military and open up new opportunities for them all together. It was only until recent years that they were legally allowed to enlist within the military. This paved the way for many regulations to be changed within the military such as gays being able to enter and much more. Women joining the military has been a huge help to bettering equality within our own society. Without it we would still be bickering with women on whether they should be required to go back to war once again. Many people still believe that women should not be in combat in any way shape or form but the matter of the issue is not up to anyone but the person enlisting, regardless of gender.
