Than states “Unlike movie zombies, which become reanimated almost immediately after infection, the first signs a human has rabies—such as anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, and paralysis—don't typically appear for ten days to a year, as the virus incubates inside the body” (Ker). Than continues on his article discussing the possibilities of hybrid rabies. By taking another virus and combining it with rabies we could end up having entire new genetically altered supper virus. That altering the genetic code of rabies could result in a hybrid and possibly a zombie virus. In Ker article he talks about the genetic makeup of a viruses and how it’s possible for the virus to swap certain attributes with another pathogen. Ker calls this Re-assortment, if the virus has enough likeness with another it can swap genetic coded back forth each other. Because of this fact rabies is not a close enough candidate to be zombie virus, but like the virologist said it’s not impossible for rabies be candidate for mutated disease, we only need to tweak it just a little. The influenza virus is a perfect candidate to mutate the rabies virus with. It has the qualities that a hybrid rabies virus needs to mutate to become close enough to the zombie virus. Influenza is the strong enough candidate because it wiped out …show more content…
The fungus is only deadly to ants. The fungus attaches its self to the bottom forest floor leaves and only can latch on to lingering ants if crosses its path. If we were to transport this fungus and relocate it to the parts of Africa where the tsetse fly resides and have it somehow infect the passing fly. We could have a deadly parasite on our hands, which would have the capability of entering the host brain and controlling the host every movements. In conclusion that facts presented here in this paper show that the likely hood of a zombie outbreak happening is probable but not absolutely possible. We could end up having a zombie out break on our hands, but not really. We would need to alter the genetic makeup of the viruses for it to become what we see in TV shows and movies. There’s also the possibility of two viruses mutating together or swapping genetic code to create a zombie virus. The idea of zombie virus is there and our diseases in today’s day in age are very deadly on their own. We could have a zombie virus on hands but there’s a small window of that happening. There all countless viruses out there that could end up swapping genetic code, mutating, and evolving to
