-Children with limited interaction with adults have difficulty in acquiring language
Social and Interaction Model
List the limitations of Behaviourist and Innate Theory
Behaviourist:
-Passive thinkers
-May enact their behaviour due to a reward
-Children understand much earlier than their ability to produce language
Innate:
-Narrow focus on grammar instead of communication
List the limitations of Cognitive and Social and Interaction Model
Cognitive:
-Children can acquire cognitive skills but not language (deaf children)
-Some children are more developed in language than cognitive/emotionally (down syndrome)
Social and Interaction Model:
-Lack of focus on grammatical development
-Follow a similar sequence (even though children would have different levels of social interaction)
-Importance of siblings
